Azerbaijan is beautiful country south-east of Turkey. The primary language spoken there is Azerbaijani, which derived from Turkish descent.

This country is an absolutely beautiful country. I was surprised by the lack of information on the land. Information can be found, but it not as easy as most would think, especially when it came to their religious history.

Azerbaijan is a country of beautiful and caring people, yet they lack the love of and care that only Christ can give. When I began researching the history in this country, I was honestly shocked by the percentage of Muslims to other religions in the country. I knew it would be a high percentage, but the first number I got felt un-real.

When you look up the religious demographics of Azerbaijan, you’ll immediately see 95% of the population is Muslim. These countries that I am going to are unreached, but I sometimes forget just how unreached they are. I usually ignore this when I begin to get comfortable in the freedoms God has gifted me with here in this country.

Romans 15:18-21 is a verse I have begun to memorize and instill in my life. This verse reminds me that the Gospel intent is to be shared. Not just in our families, or our neighborhoods but to the ends of the earth.

“For I will not venture to speak about anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the gentiles to obedience-by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the spirit of God-so that from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the Gospel of Christ; and thus I make it my ambition to preach the Gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written,

“Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”

Romans 15:18-21

This verse has become my mantra, my vision, my mission. I desire to go to Azerbaijan and the rest of these countries so that Christ may abound even more. The people are hungry for God! The Joshua Project has done it’s best to capture the brokenness in this country. According to it, 85% of Azerbaijan is Muslim, and 96.7% are entirely unreached!

That’s crazy to me! These countries need the Gospel! Pray that God goes before us and prepares the hearts of these people. As you read this, I hope you realize your part in this. Not everyone is designed to Go physically. We are designed to Go, and that can be in a few ways.

First and foremost, Pray! Pray that my team will listen and adhere to what God wants on this trip and as we hit Azerbaijan. Pray for this country, that God would prepare the way in the hearts of these people. Pray that I can be ready to share whatever God may lay on my heart.

Second, donate. By donating, you’re partnering with me in bringing the Gospel forward! Whether you’re able to give $10 or over $1,000, be faithful in what God has asked of you. Mark 12:41-44 talks about the widow who gave all that she had. She chose to trust God, and that is what I am doing and what you’ll be doing by partnering with me.

Let’s bring the Kingdom of God to these eleven countries, together as the body of Christ!

  1. Thank you for sharing this, Jacken. I pray that God will prepare the hearts of those in Turkey to receive the true gospel as you and your team share with them!

  2. Thank you so much for your support Cheri! I have always seen you as my other mom. You’ve always been there for me, and words can’t express the love I have for you and your family!
