The land that literally translates to “independent; free spirit”.

The beautiful country of Kazakhstan! The name can have many different meanings, “land of wanderers,” is one of them also. The one above can be seen as one of the popular translations. The country of Kazakhstan is beautiful, but it also is a country looking, desperately, for hope.

Kazakhstan’s religious history stems back to Islam. Today, Islam is the predominant religion here with 65.90% being Muslim and 34% being unreligious according to the Joshua Project. This leaves roughly 0.1% being Christians, which is a lot of hopelessness and longing.

The land of wanderers/freed spirits aren’t as free as their land means. Christianity along with others are being ridiculed and persecuted in this country. Truly freedom and life are given through Christ and faithful abandonment in him. This does not mean he wants us to lose logic and reasoning, and blindly following him. He is a God of reason and logic, and this land needs that; along with the endless and unmerited love that He offers.

Peter said it right when he said, “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15. We have to have reasoning as to why we believe, but we must also be respectful to the one hearing and asking.

The titles of these blog posts all mean prayer, in the native language or a language within the country being spoken about. The purpose of this is that I can ask any believer reading this to pray for these countries. Kazakhstan in particular needs prayer for open hearts and tentative ears. God has used their nomadic culture to show them a taste of freedom, but now He wants to give them full freedom in His name. Join me and my group as we pray for this country.

As we head to this country, I ask and implore you to pray for us. That the Holy Spirit gives us the words to preach and disciple his people. In all of this, I ask that you pray that we may show the unmatched, unmerited, and unending love of Christ Jesus!

Pray and ask God how you can join in this journey. If it’s a donation, do not doubt that God will bless not only your giving but you as well. By donating, remember that you are joining me in this Adventure and becoming a part of everything God does through us. The 12,000 dollars is all because of God and those He called to give!
