“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

Matthew 7:11

“What do you want from God?”

That is what my team leader asked us about recently. I sat there and pondered, what do I desire and want from God. He is a good Father who desires to give gifts, He wants to show up in amazing ways for us. They usually require us to step outside of what is comfortable for us.

As I pondered this, I realized that God had already stepped in such cool ways. He already offered me some pretty cool gifts, both in ways that required me to step out. I’ll show you the first, and right now the strangest. It starts with my desire for music. I love music, but I have always been a drummer; until I realized that a drum-set is difficult to travel with. So I began learning the guitar, for amusement or so I thought.

(Me doing two of my favorite things, chewing gum and finding worship songs to practice)

We get to our ministry location and our host tells us that he would love to have church service.

(The host and his family, after we had service with the police officers. Juan is next to me on the right, his son is next to him, Paul. His wife, Evalin, is in between Mary and Jacki. Lastly, their daughter, Lili, is on the right of Jacki near the bottom.)

So then the search for a person who could play an instrument began, I’m assuming you can guess who drew the short straw. So I don’t sing, nor had I had any time playing the guitar in front of people. God calls those willing to say ‘Yes’, even if it’s a hesitant yes.

He also desires to gift His children. I wanted to learn the guitar and eventually play worship around a campfire while doing missions. It wasn’t in my timing, but it still came. I have been blessed and have learned so much. He is giving me experiences that I enjoy, because of the gracious Father that He is.

(worshipping with Sara and the Police Officers! Really fun times!)

Let me ask you the same question, What do you Want from God?

God, you are a provider and desire to love your kids well. You love to use us to do amazing things. You also love to bless us for the little acts of faith we have. Please bless everyone reading and allow them to be used by you. Amen.
