“But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence. “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Luke 11:8-10
We all were so excited about what God was doing, but He likes to receive all the glory and praise in a situation. So He not only let us worship, pray, and preach with the police officers but he also opened the community up to us. We were able to package food and got the opportunity to invite 10 families into the host location we are at. We still couldn’t leave at this time, but we didn’t care. We were finally seeing some change within the community.
When the families came, we got to worship with them. We were able to pray with them, and God allowed me to share part of my story with them. We noticed, though, that two of the ten families weren’t there; come to find out, they couldn’t move from the location they were at due to old age and other issues. So we thought the community leaders would take the food and blankets we had packaged for them to them. Instead, God wanted to use this as a way to bless us and the community.
When we finished with everything with the families who did show up, the community leaders actually told us that two of us could go with them (including the host) to pass out the food. I wasn’t quick enough, so I was trying to quickly teach the two who were going how to use my camera. In the middle of doing this, I kept asking God to just allow me to go; not only to take pictures but to experience the joy and love these families were about to receive.
Guess what?! God is awesome, and he heard my prayers because the community leaders changed their minds and said four people could go. So I obviously jumped at the opportunity, what I came to find out is that there were actually five of us going out. The community leaders weren’t upset but enjoyed the love we were showing their community.
God thank you for allowing us to serve the community! Allow us to continue serving wherever you place us!
Love hearing the stories of how God is moving! Keep them coming. So proud of you, Team Lightning, Storm Chasers, and I Squad. Love you, yo momma?
C’mon Jacken- What a great testimony and Encouragement/faith builder !
“SHAMELESS PERSISTENCE”- You nailed it brother! Like the persistent and shameless widow of Luke Ch 18, ” lest she wear me out…”
He is the same waymaker door opener and miracle worker as yesterday and forever -Bless HIM !
SO GOOD! I’m so glad you got to go into the community AND that you got to take photos so we could all see, too!
