Let’s paint the picture that I just recently lived. Before that though, I hope as you read these, that you realize that I am talking to myself as well as talking to anyone reading this. This is never meant to be read as an attack, so please read this with the fullest sincerity and if it sounds harsh, that’s cause I’m talking to myself also.

So this painting, it’s a room full of the twenties and thirties. You are introduced to them as someone amazing right, not because the mc is trying to give you a big head but because you are amazing. What would you actually tell these guys? What could be so powerful to grab all of their attention in 3 minutes and then maintain it for the rest of the twelve minutes that you have left?

I wish I had a great answer for you, but unfortunately, I don’t right now. What I can tell you, is how Gary was able to do it to us. He came in and was introduced and ya’ll when he walked up, you could tell that he was ready to deliver a message. What a message he delivered!

Within a minute he had our attention, and it was because he made some dramatic entrance, he simply allowed Jesus to enter first. He taught about showing up and then letting God fill in the gap. There were a number of things that caught my attention, and I would love to share a couple with you.

The first is that your boredom is because you are boring!

It seems so simple but it’s so true! When we think the Christian faith is boring, it’s because we are not showing up, and expecting God to do everything! 1 Corinthians 4:20 states,

“For the Kingdom realm of God comes with power, not simply impressive words!”

Passion

I love it in this version because of the wordage! It’s amazing, for real! Like God and His kingdom come in Power. How can you be bored with that, think about it? The same power that made the blind see, the deaf hear, the mute speak, the dead rise; the power that forgave the unforgivable, loved the unloveable, welcomed the outcast; the power to have compassion on those who hurt you, redeem the ones who reject you, raise up those to carry your legacy.

What about that sounds boring?! Like for real, think about it. The boring Christian life is caused by a boring Christian, a Christian. The point of the Christian life isn’t getting to Heaven, it’s bringing Heaven on earth. Alright, I could go on for a while, but I gotta continue.

The following really got me and I want to go more in-depth later, but it’s so good. So I’ll mention a sneak peek now. Jesus is in the business of partnership! Isn’t that really dope! To think that Jesus doesn’t just want you to watch and look, but he wants us to partake in what he is doing. The best example of this is in Matthew 14. It’s the feeding of the five thousand, and typically we remember it as Jesus feeding the five thousand, but I suggest you guys read it again. It’s pretty awesome, but that’s for another day.

The Christian faith is NOT boring and Jesus is into Partnership! This was dope to learn and hear again. There has been a lot of growth personally for me, and I can’t wait to give ya’ll more!

  1. C’mon my brother!
    really really GOOD Jacken !
You’re so right. Christianity is many things but boring cannot be one of them. The words awesome and exciting are paltry low estimations with Human words of who the triune God is and what a dynamic and personal intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit of God in us actually means and looks like.

The partnership theme was so worth mentioning also. What God could have done perfectly and all by himself, he chose to do slowly and stumblingly through his sons and daughters, as His Co-laborers in this kingdom work!

So I won’t steal your thunder or surprise with Matthew 14. 🙂

  2. So, you had a good training experience, eh? I’m glad to read that you’re even more motivated as a result. May this result in your circle being transformed in these coming weeks, and many sparks lit while you serve afterward. Is. 55:5
